Organic Soap

Author: admin | Files under Soap Skin Care

The notion of organic soap has become widespread out of the comparison with various industrial soaps that basically rely on detergents for the cleaning properties. By organic soap one often implies all natural ingredients: herbs, essential oils and extracts, natural scents, milk, honey, algae, oatmeal and the very important glycerin. Most of the time, organic soap is not produced by industrial processes but hand-made either at home or part of small soap making businesses. The package usually informs the customer that the product is 100% natural and hand-rolled. The more difficult manufacturing process influences the price a bit, but organic soap is surely affordable, usually showing a few dollars difference from commercial products.

There are plenty of additional uses of organic soap complementary with the basic skin cleaning purpose. Some users go organic out of concern for the environment, others are more interested in skin-health promotion. Organic soap has the great advantage of leaving the skin moist and soft, unlike detergent-based soaps that dry the dermis. The glycerin content is actually the one responsible for the soft and beautifying effect of organic soap, while the herbal and essential oil ingredients address various medical conditions such as lesions, skin infections, acne or dermatitis.

Some organic soap varieties have great anti-oxidation or anti-aging properties: it is the case of products that contain milk nutrients, honey, algae, aloe or more special minerals like silver and gold colloids. The effect of such organic soap is often that of tissue regeneration, but we nevertheless have to specify that soaps are not as effective as special skin-care treatments designed for the only purpose of fighting oxidation and wrinkle formation. Organic soap is just the element that promotes and preserves skin beauty by bringing the nutrients necessary to maintain it fresh and supple.

The use of organic soap for the entire family is highly advisable; by the neutral pH and the great tolerance level, organic soap is even compatible with the gentle baby skin. Special attention is required for the choice of clear soaps, that have a high content of glycerin. Always check the label to make sure that alcohol was not a major ingredient in the making process of such products, since instead of achieving the moisturizing effect you are after, such items will rather dry the skin. Organic soap that contains traces of alcohol can be effective for oily skin types but without excessive usage.
